U.S. Interest in N.Z. Politics
Mr M. Cassidy, European correspondent of the “Philadelphia Bulletin,” has arrived at Auckland. He has been commissioned to find out “why the people voted as they did,” both here and in Australia. “We feel that there was a tide of Socialism sweeping the world and that New Zealand was of special importance as being the first to indicate a stemming of that tide,” said Mr Cassidy. “Anyway, my paper must have thought it pretty important to send me out here all the way from Paris.” Mr Cassidy is working against time. He has spent the last week or two in Australia, but has only thr?.e days to make his inquiries in New Zealand.
