The resignation of Mr A. E. Clausen, assistant clerk, was before the Otorohanga County Council yesterday and it was accepted with regret.
The chairman, Mr J. L. Wallis, and Cr E. H. Walters were appointed at yesterday’s meeting to represent the Otorohanga County Council on the Otorohanga Island Reserve Control Committee. -
The district rehabilitation officer advised the Waipa County Council on Monday that the board had approved the appointment of Mr C. S. Alexander as local bodies’ representative on the Te Awamutu Rehabilitation Committee.
Mr A. E. Campbell, director of the New Zealand Council of Educational Research, was a visitor to Te Awamutu on Monday to inquire on behalf of the Government into the question of the control of post-primary schools in the Auckland Education Board’s district. Mr Campbell conferred with the executive of the College ParentTeacher Association and in the evening he met members of the College Committee of Management.
Members of the Federated Farmers (Waikato Province) have every reason to be gratified at the fact that three senior Dominion Executives are attached to the above organisation. The Dominion President is Mr W. N. Perry (Cambridge), while the Dominion President of the Dairy Section is Mr A. G. Alexander. The Dominion senior vice-president of the Meat and Wool Section is Mr W. N. Smith, also of the Waikato.
The congratulations of the Waipa County Council were extended to the engineer (Mr W. G. Macky) on his election to the position of president of the New Zealand County Engineers’ Association, at Monday’s meeting of the former body. The congratulatory motion was moved by Crs Russell and Hall. The chairman (Mr Onion), in supporting the motion, said Mr 'Macky’s election to the position brought distinction to the council. Mr Macky briefly acknowledged the compliments.
Prior to the commencement of the business at Monday’s meeting of the Waipa County Council, the chairman (Mr F. L. Onion) made sympathetic reference to the death of Mr J. Graham, who was a member of the council from 1934 to 1944. The late Mr Graham represented the Karpaki Riding during his term of office. In asking those present to stand in silence as a mark of respect, Mr Onion said that Mr Graham had been a valued member of the council. It was decided to forward a letter of condolence to the relatives.
