WOMEN’S INSTITUTE
KIHIKIHI BRANCH The monthly meeting of Kihikihi Women’s Institute was held at Mrs Warren’s residence on April 14th, Mrs Henderson presiding over a very good attendance of members. Mrs Angus was present in her capacity as voluntary organiser and was most helpful fn various matters which had caused a great deal of discussion to arise. In a speech re the competition shield which she was presenting to the president, Mrs Angus informed members that there are seven Institutes in the Te Awamutu Group to compete for the Shield, the winning of which is worked on points in competition in drama, cookery, floral and hand-work. After being thanked for her offer to be of assistance at any time, Mrs Angus was presented with a small bouquet of flowers. Mrs Rolfe, who is leaving the district soon was presented with a shoulder spray, and the good wishes of her fellow members go with her when she leaves. Babies Allan and Short were presented with the usual small gift, and two new members were welcomed by Mrs Henderson. The proceeds of the Sales Table netted very good results and this is to be donated to the O. and G. Appeal. Competitions were won as follows:—Flower: Mrs Raine Ist, Mrs Helwig 2nd; Something new from something old: Mrs Casey Ist; Wandering shilling: Mrs Raine. Mrs Warren was thanked for her hospitality, and the meeting was brought to a close. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Casey and L. Allen.
