TE AWAMUTU STOCK SALE The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited report .on their tri-weekly sale held in the above yards yesterday. Ox and heifer beef was yarded in large numbers, well-finished lines selling at firm rates. In the store section boners came forward in increased numbers and sold readily, any change in prices favouring vendors. In the dairy section good Jersey heifers (r.w.b.) met with keen competition. Fat wethers were yarded in average numbers and Sftld at prices on a par with recent quotations. Store sheep came forward in larger numbers, meeting with fair competition. A large yarding of both fat and store pigs came forward. Baconers sold firm at late rates whilst porkers sold well. Stores and weaners showed a rise in values. TE AWAMUTU STOCK SALE Messrs G. W. Vercoe and Co., Ltd, report having held their tri-weekly sale at the Te Awamutu yards. A medium yarding of fat wethers and store sheep was penned and an average yarding of fat and boner cattle came forward. All sold on par with current rates, prime wethers realising up to 52s 3d. A light yarding of dairy cattle met with keen competition from a large bench of buyers. There was a lighter yarding of fat pigs which sold at current rates. Store pigs were in greater demand than at previous sales. Sheep: Prime fat wethers 48s to 52s 3d, medium wethers 44s to 465, lighter wethers 40s to 425, fat ewes 25s to 31s 6d, canner ewes to 12s, prime fat lambs to 355, store lambs 20s to 245, smaller sorts 13s to 15s. Cattle: Fat Jersey cows £9 to £ll 10s, heavy boner cows £6 5s to £8 ss. lighter sorts £3 to £5 10s, cross bred heifers close to profit £l3 5s to £l4 10s, backward sorts £5 5s to £5 15s. CAMBRIDGE STOCK SALE The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company Limited reports as follows on their stock sale held at Cambridge last Monday. Fat cows were penned in average numbers and were keenly competed for, selling at slightly higher values. There was a full offering of boner and store cows. These also sold strongly and showed a marked advance in values. A small dairy herd on offer sold freely at satisfactory prices. A light yarding of pigs was penned. Competition throughout was steady, prices remaining firm. Cattle: Heavy fat young Jersey cows £9 to £9 16s, lighter £8 to £8 10s, boner cows £6 to £8 15s, store cows £4 5s to £5 10s, young dairy cows (early calvers) £l5 5s to £l7 10s, other' dairy cows £lO 5s to £l3. Pigs: Choppers £3 10s to £8 Is, heavy baconers £6 to £6 15s, medium £5 10s to £5 16s, light £5 to £5 Bs, porkers and large stores £2 15s to £4 12s, slips 18s to 28s 6d, weaners 5s to 16s 6d. MATAMATA SALE Sheep were yarded in small numbers at Messrs Dalgety and Co.’s Matamata sale on Wednesday last, and sold at unchanged rates. Included in a good penning of cattle was the advertised entry of station bred cattle ex the East Coast which comprised both P. A. and Hereford 20 months steers and heifers. Interest was keen and a good sale resulted at full firm values, and a total clearance was effected under the hammer. Fat and store pigs were penned in average numbers with competition keen throughout. Values for all classes were on a P ar with late rates. We quote:— Sheep. Medium store lambs 19s 6d to 20s 6d, small store lambs 12s to 14s. Cattle: Light fat cows £7 16s to £8 4s, heavy boner cows £6 10s to £7 ss, light to medium boner cows £4 5s to £6 ss, cull cows £2 Ils to £4, medium grown 20 months Hereford and P.A. steers £7 Is to £7 10s, smaller 20 months P.A. and Hereford steers £6 12s to £6 15s, medium grown 20 months P.A. and Hereford heifers £6 17s 6d to £7 ss, smaller grown 20 months P.A. and Hereford heifers £5 16s to £6 10s. HAMILTON STOCK SALE The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company Limited reports as follows on their weekly stock sale held at Hamilton on Tuesday:— An average number of fat wethers was penned, including a fair proper-
tion of plain pens. Outside butchers were operating and prices showed a rise on those ruling last week. Fat ewes were dearer, while fat lambs were firm. Ox beef was penned in medium numbers. The quality generally was only moderate but values for all finished pens remained fully firm, while lighter classes met a steady sale for their weight. A larger yarding of cow and heifer beef met a steady demand and the only alteration in values if any, being in buyers’ favour. The veal pens were again filled and values were slightly easier. A medium yarding of both fat and store pigs was penned. In the fat section the entry comprised mostly porkers, very few baconers coming forward, and prices remaining firm. Store and weaner pigs sold at unchanged rates. Sheep: Extra heavy fat wethers 52s to 555, prime fat wethers 48s to 50s, medium 45s to 475, light 42s to 445, unfinished 38s ‘to 41s, heavy fat ewes 31s to 35s 3d, medium 28s to 30s, light 24s to 275, heavy fat lambs 42s fo 46s fid, medium 35s to 395, light 30s to 335.
