World Food Stocks
“The outlook for food supplies in the immediate future is gloomy. World food stocks at the end of the season will be lower than ever,” said General Noble Clark, Deputy Director General of the United Nations Food and Agricultural Organisation, speaking in Desmoines, lowa, recently. “The available world supplies fall short of the conservatively estimated requirements b” SO per cent for rice and 25 per cent for wheat,” he said. “The world needs bumper crops for at least two years if even the minimum requirements are to be met.”
