KAKEPUKU NEWS

YOUNG FARMERS’ CLUB Farmers and members of the Kakepuku Club gathered in the Pokuru Hall for the monthly meeting which took place last Monday night, 10th June. Mr W. G. Neill Jnr., chairman, presided over a good attendance. The speaker for the evening was Mr Neilson, consulting officer of the New Zealand Dairy Board, who gave a lecture illustrated with lantern slides on “Measures Designed to Reduce Dairy Cow Wastage in New Zealand Herds.” The figures showed the enormous avoidable wastage in dairy cattle. Mr A. A. Candy thanked Mr Neilson on behalf of all present for his very interesting and instructive address. Personal The Kakepuku Y.F.C. has been honoured by its chairman, Mr W. G. Neill, Jnr.) winning the essay competition open to all Y.F.C. members in the Waikato district. The essay will be broadcast from IYA. Mr F. Turner, a Young Farmers’ Club member, Jpas returned from Invercargill where he attended the Dominion Conference. Mr Turner was a delegate from the Auckland Council.
