A Unique Position
“It is rather a unique position. In America they have taxation without representation and we have representation without taxation,” remarked the Mayor of Rotorua (Mr P. A. Kusabs) at a conference of local bodies in Tauranga on Wednesday when commenting on the fact that Rotorua had representation on the Tauranga Harbour Board but did not pay rates.
“May Overcome the Mamakus” The published opinion of a world authority that development of atomic power might revolutionise railways within the next JO years, was not lost upon Rotorua Borough councillors when they debated at their meeting recently the best routes for rail extension. “It might even overcome the Mamakus,” declared Cr D. Sheaf, who had supported the opinion that the railway should be extended from Rotorua to Reporoa.
