PRE-WEDDING FUNCTION
MISS JEAN DUDLEY HONOURED Mrs Knox Clarke was hostess at a pantry afternoon at her residence in Sloane Street in honour of Miss Jean Dudley on Saturday afternoon last. Friends of the guest of honour, who is to be married shortly, expressed their good wishes in tangible ’ form and many useful pantry gifts were presented by Mrs Clarke on behalf of the visitors. The afternoon passed pleasantly, firstly on the lawn where clock golf was held and a lucky number competition decided, and later in the tastefully decorated sitting room where a cheerful fire burnt brightly. Further competitions were held and a truly sumptuous afternoon tea was served, after which Mrs Clarke in a short speech wished Miss Dudley all possible happiness and called upon her to open her gifts. The guest of honour replied, expressing thanks, to all her friends for their kindness and to Mrs Clarke for her work in making the function the undoubted success it was and also for the eulogistic remarks she had made.
