Electric Ranges

A circular letter from the Ministry of Supply was before Te Awamutu Electric Power Board at Friday’s meeting. Therein it was stated that where no other means of cooking were available an electric range might be installed, but where such an installed range had become worn out no replacement was allowed. Several members commented on the apparent absurdity of the position, but it was stated that in genuine cases the authorities had treated the matter fairly. Mr D. T. B. McArthur (secretarymanager of the Board) said the new ranges were being conserved for new houses, especially State dwellings.
