LOCAL BODY ELECTIONS

TWO CANDIDATES FOR THE MAYORALTY RECORD NUMBER OF ASPIRANTS FOR BOROUGH COUNCIL Nominations for the Mayoralty, the Borough Council, and representatives on the Te Awamutu Electric Power Board closed at noon to-day. Two nominations—those of Messrs H. C. Rainey and G. Spinley—-were received for the Mayoralty, and no less than twenty-eight nominations were received for the Borough Council. This number constitutes a record for Te Awamutu. The five nominations for the Power Board also indicate a greater degree of interest than usual in the affairs of that body. Mayoralty H. C. Barrell, ex-M.P., in his candidature for re-election to the Auckland Harbour Board, as representing the combined district of Hamilton, Te Awamutu, Cambridge and Ngaruawahia Boroughs.
