Baird; dinner, Mrs ‘ Christian; cake, Mrs Angus; turkey, ‘ Mrs Alex Reid; sugar, Mrs Richmond. During the meeting of Te Awamutu Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday evening Mr E. C. Hutson referred to the reported number of factories being established in Wanganui, and he wondered if such could not be followed here. There were in Te Awamutu a number of large buildings that were empty and suitable for factory purposes. Another member raised the question of housing, which it was agreed entered largely into any such expansion as was suggested. “It all goes back to the housing scheme,” said the chairman (Mr H. C. Date) in closing the brief discussion.
