REHABILITATION

REQUEST BY COUNCIL The Franklin County Council has decided to ask the Rehabilitation Board what provision was being made for administration in the Franklin area, the council being of the opinion that there should be a committee for the district working directly under the board and having the same powers and duties as the Auckland Metropolitan Rehabilitation Committee. The Franklin area was a most important one, stated the chairman, Mr J. N. Massey, M.P. There had been too much centralisation, so that the advice of local bodies could be used in local affairs.

Several members expressed disappointment at the lack of information regarding the position of local bodies in relation to national rehabilitation plans. The chairman pointed out that the council should submit a list of proposed works in the county as soon as possible.
