Mr J. P. Sklennars left last night for the south to commence duties with the R.N.Z.A.F.
Mr and Mrs Geo. Gallaway and Miss Joan Gallaway, Puniu Road, left for Wellington last night.
Mrs P. H. Bloxham, who is at present an inmate of the Waikato Hospital, is making rapid progress towards recovery.
Mr W. I- Bowyer, of« Otorohanga, has been re-elected to the Auckland Education Board as member for the west ward.
The Rev. M. L. Calder will broadcast in the “Social Justice” session from all ZB radio stations at 6 o’clock on Sunday evening next.
Mr ‘B. C. O’Connor, of Ohaupo, a director the Te Awamutu Co-operative Dairy Company, Ltd., was*an absentee from the annual meeting on Wednesday, the first time for 14 years. Mr O’Connor is a member of the armed forces
While in the district early last week, the Hon. P. C. Webb, accompanied by Mr D. J. Cummings, Mr R. Kemp, the Hon. J. E. Duncan and Mrs Duncan and many friends, spent a very pleasant musical evening at the home of Mr and Mrs H. Shaw, Kihikihi.
Advice has been received by Mr W. J. Tucker, Young Street, that his nephew, Gunner T. P. Norton, eldest son of Mrs N. McEvoy, Orakei, has died of wounds. Aged 23 years, Gunner Norton was born in Cornwall. England and was educated at Grafton School, Auckland. He was a member of the Comrades Soccer team, and also a prominent rugby player. Prior to his enlistment he was a member of the Electrical staff of a New Zealand naval base. He went overseas twelve months ago and served in Libya and Syria.
