ROTO-O-RANGI PLAN
PROBLEM OF RESPONSIBILITY FARMEES DISCUSS PROPOSAL The establishment of an organisation for the protection of soldier farthers suggested by Mr A. P. Robinson, of Roto-o-Rangi, was discussed at the monthly meeting of the Cambridge Branch of the Farmers’ Union on Friday. A suggestion had been made by the Executive that branches be circulated asking them to debate the setting up of the organisations proposed, and make suggestions to the committee. Mr G. A. Walsh pointed out the difficulty of looking after another man’s property without assuming full responsibility for loss or damage that could be attributed to mismanagement. He claimed that some form of indemnity would be needed to make the scheme workable. Mr R. Mitchell said that if they were going to win the .war they would have to forget about ownership and get on with production. Mr R. S. Entwistle, secretary, thought that some form of co-opera-tive farming was indicated. The President, Mr W. N. Perry, said as far as his district was concerned there were still no farms without at least one man on them.
