LIVE STOCK MARKET SALE AT TE AWAMUTU FAT PIGS IN KEEN DEMAND I ■ 1 r Messrs Dalgety and Company Limited report on their usual tri-weekly sale held at Te Awamutu yesterday, as follows: Sheep: There was a large yarding of all classes of sheep. Fat' sheep sold at prices well up to those ruling. Store lambs came forward in large numbers, mostly from the Oparau and Te Rau-a-Moa districts, and although they were in good condition, Ridding was slow at the start, and brightened somewhat afterwards; prices were slightly lower than at recent sales. Ewes were yarded in good numbers, and sold well up to recent rates. We quote: Fat lambs 23s to 255, medium fat wethers 22s 3d to 23s Bd, lighter ditto 20s to 21s. fat ewes 7s to 10s, good wether lambs 13s 3d to 15s 7d, medium ditto Ils to 12 Ils, smaller ditto 6s 3d to 9s 9d, good woolly iambs 13s 5d to 16s, good ewe lambs 15s 2d to 16s Id, medium ditto 12s to 13s 6d, others 9s to 12s, good-qual-ity 5-y'ear ewes 17s Id, others 13s 9d to 16s. 4-year ewes 15s 9d to 17s 6d. Cattle: There was a short yarding of cattle, with the exception of ox and heifer beef. These came forward in good number, and sold well. Two pens of ox from Tokanui Mental Hospital sold at £ll 14s and £ll, and a pen of prime bullocks from Mr G. H. Watson sold at £ll 15s; prime Hereford heifers from Mr A. J. McGovern sold at £8 17s 6d, and lighter on account of Mr A- R. Franklin sold to £7 2s 6d. We quote: Prime fat bullocks £ll to £ll 15s, others £8 10s to £9 15s, prime fat heifers £8 17s 6d, lighter ditto £7 to £7 2s 6d, heavy Jersey cows £5 9s to £7 7s 6d, heavy boners £3 14s to £4 10s, medium ditto £2 15s. to £3 9s, others £1 10s to £2 10s, potter bulls £1 to £1 9s.

Pigs: There was a full yarding of fat pigs, one of the biggest this season. Buyers were keenly seeking topweight baconers and medium porkers, and butter-milk pigs were fully up to late rates, but stores and weaners were dull of sale. We quote: Heavy prime baconers to £4 4s, prime baconers £3 18s to £4 3s. medium baconers £3 10s to £3 16s, lighter baconers £2 18s to £3 7s, heavy porkers £2 10s to £2 15s', .medium porkers £2 to £2 Bs, lighter porkers £1 12s to £1 18s, choppers 18s to £3, good stores £1 to £1 3s, others 12s to 15s. SALE AT OTOROHANGA New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report on their Otorohanga sale on Wednesday last as follows: A large yarding of sheep came forward and comprised of a large penning of store lambs. There was a large attendance of buyers and competition throughout was keen and the whole yarding was cleared under the hammer. Cattle were yarded in large numbers, and included in the entry was several pens of prime quality cows and heifers. Boner cows came forward in extra large numbers and these sold at schedule rates. For a medium yarding of pigs, good competition was sustained throughout on fat pigs, but store pigs were dull of sale. Prices were as follows:

Cattle: Heavy prime fat Shorthorn heifers £9 to £9 15s, prime fat Polled Angus cows £7 10s to £9 ss, medium fat Polled Angus cows £6 10s to £7 7s 6d, Polled Angus cows and calves £5 15s to £6 ss, fat Jersey heifers £5 to £6 10s, heavy fat Jersey cows £4 15s to £5 12s 6d, heavy boner cows £3 15s to £4 10s, medium boner cows £2 15s to £3 12s 6d, 2-year mixed coloured steers £4 10s to £5 10s, potter bulls £1 to £1 15s, weaner Jersey heifers £2 5s to £2 15s.

Sheep: Prime fat wethers 21s to 235, prime fat 2-tooth ewes 16s to 18s, good w.f. ewe lambs 15s 6d to 17s, good shorn wether lambs 15s to 16s 3d, medium shorn wether lambs 12s 3d to 14s lOd, small store lambs 5s 6d to Ils 9d, cull ewe lambs 10s 6d to 13s lOd, good b.f. store lambs 14S to 16s 6d, medium b.f. store lambs 12s 4d to 13s lOd.

Pigs: Light baconers £3 3s to £3 10s, heavy porkers £2 10s to £3 Is, medium porkers £1 15s to £2 9s, light porkers £1 8s to £1 14s, store pigs 15s to 265, weaners 6s to 12s, sows and litters £1 10s to £2 15s.
