“SOLDIER’S WIFE.”—The normal air mail rate in respect of letters to the Middle East is Is 6d per ioz, but a concession is made in the case of letters to soldiers, which, if they do not exceed that weight, may be sent for 9d. When the concession rate was fixed, it was considered that a weight of ioz. would meet all normal requirements. It was because your original letter exceeded the weight in respect of which the concession applies that you were asked to pay the normal rate of 3s. “GARDEN.”—There are no restrictions upon trading in flowers. “MOTORIST.”—The weight of a gallon of petrol is in the vicinity of 7.31 b.
