THE RED CROSS
THE TE AWAMUTU BRANCH MONTHLY MEETING . The monthly meeting of the Red Cross was held in the depot yesterday, when there was a good attendance. The resignations of Mrs Harris and Miss Muriel Reilly were received with regret. It was decided that a letter of appreciation be sent to Miss Reilly for her work as assistant secretary, wishing her every success in her work in the Rotorua Hospital. The meeting expressed its appreciation to the Drama Club for its most successful effort in the production, “Lilies of the Field,” and the substantial donation to the Red Cross resulting from it. It was reported that the First Aid chests were ready for the country districts, and the suggestion was made that papers on Home Nursing subjects be passed round to members of these branches. Mrs Graham Macky agreed to give a talk on incendiary bombs in the depot on Monday, February 16th. It was decided to hold the first social afternoon of the year in the Town Hall on the first Thursday in March. All relatives of soldiers are cordially invited to attend this function.
