THE BENZINE PROBLEM

Sir, —It seems that the Borough foreman rather flippantly dismissed the remonstrance of the local Oil Fuel Controller about his action in using, the Borough run-about to shift Band material from the room to Victoria Park, with the remark “all the benzine used on that occasion would be a bottle full.” Well, I’m right 100 per cent with Mr Laybourn—a bottle full saved is a bottle full gained and if this waste were eliminated all round we would have a tidy quantity to help the Army when the Japs come round seeking to make us all riceeaters and drawers of rickshaws. Anyhow, why should the Band—a duly incorporated society—be permitted to use the Borough run-about? Let the members themselves show that they have the guts of their forefathers and carry the material up to the Park.— Yours, etc., SELF-RELIANT.
