SWIMMING

THE TE AWAMUTU CljJB ITEMS OF INTEREST - The Te Awamutu Swimming Club proposes to hold a carnival early in February, when championship events will be a feature of the meeting. . The* weekly Club nights are the means of improving the standard of swimming, most of the competitors showing improved form as the season progresses. The Club proposes to send a team of swimmers to the Hamilton Carnival on the 31st of this month. A new springboard has been installed at the baths. An interesting event at the local Club nights is the relay race, amongst the competitors being Dr Hiskens and Mr N. F. Dixon, both of whom show surprisingly good form against their younger opponents. The Club would be very grateful if local enthusiasts would enter for these relay races; forming teams representing firms, trades, businesses, etc. The Club has some very enthusiastic junior swimmers, and it. is hoped to provide them with some coaching, which should result, in a marked improvement in their efforts. On page seven of this issue of the “Courier” there is published a special article giving many valuable hints to devotees of the swimming art.
