BUTTER-FAT PRODUCTION LOCAL FIGURES The Auckland Herd Improvement Association had under test during December, 109,898 cows in 2015 herds, average milk production for the month was 761 lb, with a 4.72 test and 35.9 lb fat. In December, 1940, the 11,974 cows under test produced an average of 790 lb milk, with a 4.69 test and 37.3 lb fat. These figures . how rather strikingly that the 19401941 season was a decidedly favourable one. In December, 1939, the comparative figures were: 80,847 cows averaged 769 lb milk, 4.69 test, and 36.1 lb fat. It is interesting to note that five groups during December, 1941, averaged 40 lb fat, and that the best herd average was from 18 cows in the 'latlere-Ohura group, which reached 57 lb fat per cow. Following are the figures fer December last relating to herds in Te Awamutu and district:— Hairini: Fifteen herds totalling 967 cows gave a group average of 728 lb milk, with a 4-92 test, and yielded 36 lb fat. The highest herd of 48 cows yielded 47 lb fat. Kaipaki: Seventeen herds totalling 1101 cows gave a group average cf 778 1b milk, with a 4.66 test and yielded 36 lb fat. The three highest herds yielded 44 lb fat. Kawhia: Sixteen herds totalling 693 cows when tested resulted in a group average of 807 lb milk, with a 4.66 t st and a fat yield of 38 lb. The two highest herds yielded 40 lb fat. Putaruiu: Twenty-eight herds totalling 1559 cows gave a group average of 784 lb milk, with a 4.62 test, yielding 36 lb fat. The highest herd, 86 cows, yielded 48 lb fat. Rcto-o-Rangi - Horahora: Thirtyfour herds totalling 1921 cows gave a roup average of 770 lb milk, with a 4.87 test, and yielded 37 lb fat. The highest herd, 63 cows, yielded 48 lb fat. Te Awamutu: Forty-one herds totalling 2206 cows gave a group average of 762 lb milk, with a 4.57 test, and yielded 35 lb fat.
