WEDDING BELLS
CAVANAGH—RAWLINSON A charming wedding took place on Saturday last in the Ohaupo Catholic Church, when Mary Patricia, only daughter of Mr and Mrs S. J. Rawlinson, Ohaupo, and QuartermasterSergeant Francis James (Waikato Mounted Rifles), eldest son of Mr and Mrs J. Cavanagh, of Paterangi, were united in the bonds of holy matrimony. The Rev. Father Flynn officiated at the ceremony, while Mr J. Battersby, of Hamilton, who also sang “Ave Marie,” played the organ. The bride, who entered the church with her father, by whom she was given away, wore a lovely frock of shadow rose crepe I’amour fashioned with a skirt softly falling in unpressed pleats and a bodice tucked diagonally and finished at the neck with touches of lace. She carried a bouquet of pink carnations and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaid, Miss Kath Jordan, of Hamilton, who was attired in a model afternoon frock of mysotis blue with tucked bodice and full fronted skirt, carried a bouquet of delphiniums and cornflowers. Attendant on the bridegroom as best man was his brother, Mr George Cavanagh. At the reception, which was held at the Hamilton Hotel, the bride’s mother in a luggage tan cloque suit and toning hat, received the guests. She was assisted by the mother of the bridegroom, who wore a black tailored suit and fuchsia hat. Mr Joseph Battersby again delighted the guests with his rendition of several solos. When the newlywedded couple left on their honeymoon the bride’s travelling costume was clipper green and string beige Harris tweed with a cream front and a bottle green hat.
