ROLL OF HONOUR

KILLED IN ACTION AIRCRAFTSMAN F. F. EDWARDS Mr F. W. Edwards, of Cambridge, has received advice that his son, Aircraftsman Frank Frederick Edwards, has been killed in action. DIED OF ILLNESS SERGEANT JOHN HARDYMENT / Private advice has been received in Parawera that Sergeant John Hardyment, of Marton, has died of wounds received while in action in Libya. He was a brother of Private Cliff Hardyment, who served with the Forces in the Middle East, and who is wellknown in the Pukeatua and Parawera districts. PRISONER OF WAR CORPORAL TOM PITCON First news of Corporal Tom. Pitcon, of Te Kuiti, since he was reported missing in Crete, has come in a letter from him sent from a prisoner of war camp in Crete. The letter was to his parents, Mr and Mrs J. Pitcon, of the Esplanade, Te Kuiti. “I was one of the unfortunate ones who were caught here,” he writes. “At the present time I am quite well and am being treated very well—l am out working so have something to occupy my mind. I will not be taken off the island now, so you can write to me here—my address is No. 8860, Corporal T. M. Pitcon, P.O.W. Camp, Crete. The life I am living now is a wee bit different to what I have been used to, but I am getting settled down now and do not mind so much.” He could only write two letters a month, but there was no restriction upon the number he could receive. The letter received was dated August 25.
