ITEMS OF INTEREST A FINANCIAL COUNTY (Our Resident Representative) There are probably very few counties in the Dominion that can show such a solid financial position as the Otorohanga, County. The record credit balance established last year, of £10,582, has been increased by £325 to £10,907, as at March 31st. Of this, £4,000 has been lodged on deposit for three months and the reserve of £2,000 usually renewed annually, has been renewed for six months on account of purchase of a Galion road grader, costing £2,000 net. The rates collected were also a record. Last year the record was £12,776 Is 6d, this year the figure is £13,126 5s Bd, an increase of £350 4s 2d. Much of this success is, no doubt, due to the work of the energetic secretary to the County, Mr S. J. Fortescue, who has served it faithfully for many years.
