OBITUARY
MR HENRY ANDREW. Te Awamutu has lost another of its old residents by the death, late on Tuesday afternoon, of Mr Henry Andrew, of Bank Street. Deceased, who came from'Otahuhu to Te Awamutu over thirty years ago with his wife and family, soon established himself as a carrier and farm contractor, and became one of the most prominent business men in the community. With the advent of motor vehicles he developed the carrying side of the business, and soon had a fleet of trucks plying all over the district. In later years the business was taken over by his sons, Mr Andrew’s indifferent health compelling him to follow a less strenuous occupation. He took out a land agent’s license, and was a well-known figure about the town. More recently he had to relinquish this calling, his health becoming steadily worse, and his demise did not come as a shock. Genial to a degree, Harry Andrew was known to everybody, and respected by all. For some years he was an active member of the local Chamber of Commerce, and was elected to the Council of that body several times. He had a great liking for bowls as a pastime, and he got a great deal of satisfaction out of the game and its fellowship. His memory will be perpetuated by competitions among Te Awamutu Bowling Club members for the. Andrew Buttons, donated by him a few years ago. Mr Andrew was a member of the Presbyterian Church. His wife predeceased him, but he is survived by an adult family, comprising Messrs Francis H. (Bert) Andrew, Henry M. Andrew, Roy G. Andrew, l Mrs M. G. Galloway (all of Te Awamutu), and Mrs Wm. McCready, Hamilton. The funeral takes place to-morrow, leaving St. Andrew’s Church at 2 p.m. for the Te Awamutu Cemetery.
