WEDDING BELLS

FERGUSON—WEIGHTMAN. The wedding was celebrated in Putaruru Methodist Church on Saturday, May 20th, of Miss Hilda Gascoigne Weightman, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs H. S. Weightman, Putaruru, and Mr. Alexander John Ferguson, only son of Mr and Mrs A. Ferguson of “Blair Athall” Pukeatua. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. Churchill, and Mrs E. Morris officiated at the organ, “The Voice That Breathed O’er Eden,” being rendered as the bridal party entered the church. The bride who was given away by her father wore a beautiful gown of ivory lace made on princess lines with heart-shaped neckline bordered with plaited satin, sleeves, long to the wrist, and slim fitting skirt sweeping away to form a long tapering train. She wore a coronet of orange blossom from which fell the long tulle bridal veil appliqued in the corners with white satin roses. A bouquet of white jonquils, chrysanthemums and maidenhair fern was carried. In attendance on the bride were her only sister, Miss Evelyn Weightman and. Miss June Ferguson, sister of the bridegroom. They wore charming frocks of eau-de-nil and delphinium blue taffetas respectively, and made alike, with frilled shoulder capes arranged fischu like, semiflared skirts, trimmed with hoop-la-frills. On their heads they each wore a tulle veil to match their frocks, finished with a topknot of fuchsia coloured orchids which flowers were also worn across the corsage of their frocks. They wore long mittens to match their frocks and carried bouqets of fuchsia coloured chrysanthemums. ' The bridegroom was attended by Mr James McKee of Pukeatua as best man and by Mr Denis Weatherell as groomsman. The ushers were Messrs Jack Tobeck and St. Clair Perry. Following the ceremony a reception was held in the W.D.F.U. Rooms where Mrs Weightman assisted by Mrs Ferguson received the guests. Mrs Weightman wore a smart teal blue silken ensemble with matching hat and squirrel stole. She carried a bouquet of roses, heath and maidenhair fern. Mrs Ferguson wore a becoming tan ensemble with hat to tone and carried a bouquet of apricot flowers. The bride travelled in a smart valley green tailored suit with tan accessories.
