Mrs A. Paine, Kai-Iwi, Wanganui, is the guest of Mrs H. Dudley, Mangapiko.

Miss Zohrab, of Wellington, is the guest of her sister, Mrs F. W. Bevin, Bank Street.

Mrs McLeod, Auckland, is at present visiting her daughter, Mrs ,Wattam, of Te Awamutu.-

A visitor to Te Kawa this week is Mrs Ruddock, of Ashburton, who is visiting her daughter, Mrs Gudsell.

Mr and Mrs W. J. Broadfoot, of Te Kuiti, passed through Te Awamutu this morning en route to Auckland for a day or two.

Mrs H. de L. Peake, of Auckland, has been spending a few days in Te Awamutu as the guest of Mrs W. Jeffery, Alexandra Street.

His many friends are pleased to see Mr W. Douglas, Jackson Street, about again after an attack of influenza, which laid him aside for several weeks.

Mrs Howcroft, of Gisborne, who has been visiting her family- and friends in this district, is now visiting Matamata.

Mr J. T. North, the Te Awamutu Club delegate to the South Auckland Bowling Centre’s annual meeting yesterday, was re-elected to the executive, and also to the selection committee.

Advices received from Palmerston North indicate that Mr J. D. Kerr who has been appointed clerk of the Courts at Te Awamutu and Cambridge, expects to arrive in Te Awamutu on Tuesday next.

Among visitors to Te Awamutu this week-end are *Mr Ray Belcher and his sister, Miss Nesta Belcher, oi Stratford, who are the guests of their aunt, Mrs R. L. Pepperell, Bank Street.

The W.aipa County Council, at the statutory annual meeting on Wednesday, elected the following members as its finance committee: Crs S. C. B. Macky, J. T. Johnson, E. F. Peacocke, D. B. Livingstone, N Reid, F. L. Onion, and G. S- Clarke. Cr Macky was also appointed representative on the district council of the Main Highways Board.

Mr G. B. Davis, for the past two years Otorohanga town clerk, has tendered his resignation to take up a position in Auckland. The resignation was accepted with regret at the last town Board meeting. Mr Davis stated that he had to resign as he could not secure a house for his family in Otorohanga.

When Mr S. C. B. Macky was nominated for re-election as chairman, at the annual meeting on Wednesday of the Waipa County Council, his fellow councillors were unanimous in their expressions of appreciation of Mr Macky’s splendid services on behalf of the county ratepayers. One said the business of the Council was conducted in a business-like manner by a man with business ability, and therefore the ratepayers were served admirably.

“This is probably the last annual meeting that will be attended by our esteemed engineer, Mr J. W. Civil, and I desire to express my deep regret at the breaking of a long and happy association,” said the chairman of the Waipa County Council, Mr S. C. B. Macky, at the meeting on Wednesday. “I am sure all members will join with me in expressing appreciation of the splendid service rendered by Mr Civil, and in hoping that he may enjoy many years of health and happiness in his retirement.”
