A DEPARTURE
A WELL-LIKED TOWNSMAN. If any value may be placed upon the qualities which constitute good citizenship—if industry, an unassuming personality, and a genial disposition are embodied in the character-
istics recognised as those constituting a worthy citizen—then in the recent departure of Mr F. Arnold Kawhia has sustained a loss. Mr Arnold is well known among fishermen, and belongs to that self-reliant order the I members of which prefer to carve out their own tracks. He has been engaged in commercial fishing in Kawhia waters over a lengthy period, but being desirous of a change, and having the idea of crayfish uppermost, has decided to put his knowledge of their habits to the test in more northern latitudes. Mr Arnold left Kawhia in his fishing boat, and word has been received of his safe arrival at Onehunga. The best wishes of many here accompany Mr Arnold.
