Rugby footballers and supporters should note that the usual junior, third and fourth grade competitions ol the Waipa Rugby Union for tomorrow have been postponed, but the Stag Competition games (seniors) will be played. Rovers play Frankton at Albert Park, and Te Awamutu travel to Cambridge. This latter match represents a rearrangement of the draw, for originally Te Awamutu were to play Technical at Hamilton.
The Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, announces that the general rolls for the general election this year close on June 30. The following extract from the Waipa Post of June 24th, 1913, may be of interest just now: “An offer has been made to a vice-president of the Te Awamutu Town Band by the man ager of the Dresden Piano Co., Wei lington, to donate a shield for annual competition by Waikato and King Country bands. The shield presented is a valuable one, and only awaits the combination of bands to bring it to the district. The conditions regulat ing the contests are understood to be that affiliated bands in Waikato and King Country must each hold the shield for one year, and after being held in turn by all the bands, it must be competed for, but cannot be won outright. The first contest is to take place in Te Awamutu.”
