At the annual reunion of South African Veterans in New Plymouth, Colonel F. W. iW. Dawson, who responded to the toast of the Navy, Army and Air Force, referred to the defence against air attack in London. He said he had seen plans of a new London hospital, which was being built t<o a scheme that made it entirely bomb-proof. It had no windows, and was proof against poison gas. This class of defence was being carried out by civic authorities.
