THE SEVEN-A-SIDE TOURNAMENT TO-MORROW. TWENTY-NINE TEAMS ENGAGED. There has been a splendid response to the Waipa Rugby Union’s innovation of a seven-a-side football tournament at Albert Park to-morrow commencing at 12.45 p.m., prior to the meeting of Rovers and Te Awamutu in the Stag Competition. The tournament is confined to junior, third and fourth-grade teams. There are thirteen teams in the junior division, ten in the thirds, and six in the fourths. The Junior- Advisory Board’s special Committee has prepared the following draw for the first round:— JUNIORS. First Round: Ngutunui v. Ohaupo A, No. 3 ground, at 1 p.m.; Te Awamutu B v. Hospital, No. 3 ground, at 1.30; Ohaupo B v. Rovers B, No. 2 ground, at 1.30; Parawera v. Waikeria A, No. 1 ground, at 1.30; Waikeria B v. Korakonui, No. 2 ground, at 1.45; Pirongia B v. Rovers A, No. 1 ground, at 1.45. THIRDS. First Round: Te Awamutu B v. High School A, No. 1 ground, at 1 p.m.; Old Boys A. v. Pirongia B, No. 2 ground, at 1 p.m. Second Round: High School B v. Te Awamutu A, No. 1 ground, at 1.15; Old Boys B v. Rovers B, No. 2 ground, at 1.15; Pirongia A v. Rovers A, No. 3 ground, at 1.15. FOURTHS. First Round: High School A v. Old Boys B, No. 1 ground, at 12.45 p.m.; Old Boys A v. Te Awamutu A, No. 2 ground, at 12.45 p.m. Second Round: High School B v. Te Awamutu B, No. 3 ground, at 12.45 p.m. CONDITIONS OF TOURNAMENT. Players, and spectators, should note the following rules and conditions:— Games, are to consist of two sevenminute spells, with a one-minute interval to allow teams to change over. In the case of a draw, teams are to change over and play two-minute spells or until a try has been gained or a force-down occurs.

The bell will ring- at the beginning of the game, again for the interval, and also to recommence after the interval. The bell will rin«- to finish the game, and other teams are to take that as a signal for them to get on to the ground quickly. Only one bell will be used for all three grounds, so all teams engaged must be readv to start at the notified time.

Teams must have tossed to decide playing ends of the field and be ready on the side-line five minutes before the time allotted for the particular game in which they are engaged. Players must be- registered and recognised members of their own clubs, and compete in their respective grades. Scrums will comprise two front men and a lock, and scrums are. to be taken instead of lineouts.

Any team not ready on time will forfeit their match.

In the case of two teams of the same club having to meet in a semifinal or final, they must arrange to have distinctive jerseys. Insurance must be handed in with the team cards prior to the commencement of the first game. Protests must be entered wi-hin ten minutes of the conclusion of the game affected. Each referee is to hand in results of games to the secretary at the conclusion of each match. In the case of a draw the referee wifi blow four short sharp blasts on his whistle; the bell will then ring at two-minute intervals until the conclusion of the game. The referee will place the ball m the scrum. Games must finish when the bell is rung, whether the ball is in touch or not.

REFEREES FOR TO-MORROW. The following appointments of referees to control matches at Albert Park on Saturday afternoon have been made:— At 12.45 p.m.—Messrs R. L. Adams, F. Waters and J. Wilson. At 1 p.m.—Messrs J. Madgwick, T. Martin and G. D. Lawrie. At 1.15 p.m.—Messrs C. Sergeant, T. Brown and I. F. Vickers. At. 1.30 p.m.—Messrs Adams, Wilson and Waters. At. 1.45 p.m.—Messrs Vickers, Martin and Lawrie. At 2 p.m.—Messrs T. Brown (senior game), Madgwick and Adams. At 2.15 p.m.—Messrs Wilscn and Lawrie. THE AUCKLAND UNION. LOCAL REPRESENTATIVE MATCHES. At a meeting of the Auckland Rugby Union, Mr E. H. Dickie was selected as referee for the match, Auckland v. Waikato, at Hamilton next Monday. The Union also agreed that the match, King Country v. Auckland, be played at Auckland on August 20. THE ALL BLACKS. KING COUNTRY NOMINEES. The King Country Rugby Union has nominated the following players for the North Island team and for the Australian tour: C. Crossman, fivo-eighth; W. J. Phillips, wing threequarter; K. Cameron, five-eighth; W. Trusttum, forward; H. Dixon, wing-three-quarter. Of the five men nominated, Crossman, Phillips, Trusttum and Dixon played in the 1937 trials in Wellington. Cameron, the nippy King Country five-eighth, has been nominated for major footban honours for the first time. He played very consistently throughout last season and certainly deserved his nomination.
