Mrs E. J. Krippner, of Te Rore, has returned home after a holiday at Rotorua.

Mrs H. Jon-Smith, of Wellington, is the guest of her mother, Mrs H. P. Nelson, Roto-o-Rangi.

Miss Audrey Nolan, of Roto-o-Rangi, is at present spending a holiday at Whakatane.

Mrs R. C. Clemow, of Monavale, is at present visiting her daughter, Mrs Richard Newland, of Morrinsville.

Miss Laura Dick, of Pahiatua, who has been spending a few weeks’ holiday in the Waikato, was in Te Awamutu yesterday visiting relatives.

Mr and Mrs J. Coyne, of Auckland,, were the guests of Mrs F. Quin, of “ Isla Bank,” Pirongia Road, during the week-end.

Mr Harold Mabbett, of the staff of Morrinsville District High School (and formerly of Mangapiko), was in Te Awamutu last Friday, renewing old friendships.

Mr Dick Lord, of the staff of the Bank of New Zealand, Ohura, was in Te Awamutu last Saturday renewing old friendships while en route to Rotorua under transfer.

Mrs E. W. Hancock, Young Street, left last evening by the New Plymouth express to spend a fortnight’s holiday with relatives in Stratford and Wanganui.

The Right Rev. F. A. Bennett. Bishop of Aotearoa, will visit Australia in July to represent the Anglican Church in New Zealand at the celebration of the centenary of Samuel Marsden and to fulfil a number of other engagements.

Miss Pat. Wade, who has been on the staff of Messrs Hancock and Co. as chef at the Commercial Hotel, Te Awamutu, for the past eleven years, leaves to-morrow to take up her duties as chef at the Princes Gate establishment, Rotorua.

Mr R. C. Schofield, manager at Taihape, has been appointed manager of the local branch of the Bank of New South Wales in succession to the late W. A. S. Wearne. Mr Schofield will arrive in Te Awamutu at an early date to take up his duties.

Dr :R. M. S. Taylor, first assistant at the Wellington training school for school dental nurses, has been appointed superintendent of dental services for the South Auckland, Taranaki, and East Coast health districts, with headquarters at Hamilton.

M'essrs J. H. Onion and J. Onion, of Waikeria Road; E. Southall, of Otorohanga, and J. M. Linehan, of St. Leger Road, leave by car for Auckland to-morrow to join the Niagara en route to Sydney. They intend to spend five or six weeks touring New South Wales and Victoria.

While oiling a chain of a milking machine on the farm of Mr V. W. Simms, at Otewa, Otorohanga, on Saturday morning, Mr Norman Rowland, aged 42, farm manager, had his hand caught in the chain. Two of his fingers were crushed. Mr Rowland entered the Waikato Hospital for treatment.

From all the New Zealanders in the Royal Air Force in Britain, Mr C. A. Turner, of New Plymouth, has been selected to return to the* Dominion next year as a signalling specialist in the Royal New Zealand Air Force. Mr Turner, who is 22 years of age, is a son of Mr and Mrs J. O. Turner, of Pendarves Street, New Plymouth.

At Friday’s meeting of Te Awamutu Electric Power Board appreciation was expressed of the splendid service rendered during the secretarymanager’s protracted illness and consequent absence from the office, by Mr M. Barnett, the accountant, and it was unanimously decided to grant him a bonus in recognition of the special work performed.

Mr J. Graham, at present manager of the Joll Dairy Company’s factory at Okaiawa, South Taranaki, has been appointed manager of the Tatua Cooperative Dairy Company’s cheese factory at Tatuanui. Mr Graham will take up his new duties on Ist of July in succession to Mr T. A. Colson, who has been manager at Tatuanui for the past 17 years, and is retiring after serving the dairy industry for 42 years.
