ENTERTAINMENTS

REGENT THEATRE. FINAL SCREENING TO-NIGHT. “FAREWELL AGAIN.” A real life story, superb direction and a brilliant cast combine to make “Farewell Again,” showing at the Regent Theatre again to-night and to-morrow one of the truly memor< able films of the year. You may remember having read some time age reports in the press of a British regiment returning after years of service overseas being allowed only six hours leave before sailing away again io another part of the Empire. It is upon this paragraph that the film was based .and the result is exceptional entertainment. In the “Grant Hotel Manner” the audience is introduced to various characters —the Colonel and his invalid wife, a captain, a pretty nurse, the sergeant-major, a corporal and various privates—and is shown how each solves his problems in their precious six hours ashore. An interesting sidelight of army life, in which comedy, romance and drama abound, is given. Flora Robson and Leslie Banks stand out at the head of a fine cast of well-known players which include Patricia Hilliard, a rising young starlet. Sebastian Shaw, Anthony Bushell and Ed. Lexy, perfect as a tough but kindly sergeant-major. The wonderful "Walt Disney cartoon is the principal support—indeed it is the only one; but it is every bit as good as heralded. TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY. “LOVE IN A BUNGALOW.” Combining comedy with careful production and spectacularly beautiful sets, Universal’s “Love in a Bungalow,” a gay story of the adventures of the hostess of a model home, opens to-morrow at the Regent Theatre. Nan Grey portrays the hostess and, opposite her, Kent Taylor enacts the role of an unemployed super salesman who usurps the best bedroom of Nan’s model house. Other members of the picture’s cast include Richard Carle, Margaret McWade, Hobart Cavanagh. Jack Smart, Minerva Urecal and Louise Beavers. As a lark Nan and Kent write a radio contest letter telling why they are the most happily married couple in the world, despite the fact that they aren’t mar-

* vied at all. Hilarious complications set in when they win the contest and must produce a home and children which they described in the letter. “Love in a Bungalow” is a smartly mounted production. Universal’s art director, John Harkrider, built especially for it a complete model home which is the last word in furnishings and design.

AT THE EMPIRE. AGAIN TO-NIGHT AND TUESDAY. “SENSATION.” “Sensation”—the inside story of a murder hunt Fleet Street versus Scotland Yard, with a ruthless newspaper reporter known as “Lone Wolf Heaton” exposing a defenceless woman’s most precious secrets to provide front-page news for a sensationloving public. Perfectly cast in the starring role is John Lodge as the unscrupulous Pat Heaton, “ace” crime reporter of the famous “Murder Gang.” Lodge’s versatility has been proved ir. the many and varied roles that have come his way—Captain of the Hussar? with Marlene Dietrich in “The Scarlet Empress.” Inspector of Police with Antoinette Cellier in “Ourselves Alone”—genius financier, again with Antoinette Cellier in “The Tenth Man.” and now, as a crime reporter in “Sensation” with a new Australian “find” playing opposite him—lovely Margaret Vyner—in the role of his financee, Claire Lindsay. “Sensation” is tensely dramatic, charged with a million thrills, yet it does not lack in humour, and there is also a touch of romance.
