The death occurred at the pa, Ngaruawahia, on Friday, of Tumati Mahuta Wherowhero, aged 48 years second son of the third Maori king and eldest uncle of the present paramount chief of the Waikato tribe, Koroki Mahuta Te Wherowhero. This week Maoris from surrounding districts principally from the Kawhia and King Country areas, will travel to Ngaruawahia, and when the tangi concludes on Sunday the body of the late Tumati Mahuta will be interred in the family burial area on Taupiri Mountain.
