MAGISTRATE’S COURT. MANY CHARGES DEALT WITH. (Our Resident Reporter.) Mr J. G. L. Hewitt, S.M,, presided at the monthly sitting of the Magistrate’s Court at Otorohanga, where he dealt with the following cases:— LIQUOR CASES. Claude Elliott, for failing to notify that he procured liquor for consumption in a prohibited area (eight bottles of beer) was convicted and fined £3 with Court costs 16s. Sinclair Murdock and Kenneth Hurley, for aiding and abetting in ths sale of liquor in the King Country, were both convicted and each fined £2 with costs 8s 6d. FAILURE TO CLEAR NOXIOUS WEEDS. In charges brought by the Otorohar.ga County Council of failure to clear noxious weeds, the Magistrate dismissed the informations on payment of costs as follows: —Albert D. Hall (12s and 10s 6d solicitor’s fee); J. H. Simons (22s 6d costs); A. M. Thomson (22s 6d); Puhi Whakaman (27s 6d), and E. M. Collinson (22s 6d). MOTOR REGULATIONS. Gordon Urquhart, traffic inspector to the Otorohanga County Council, proceeded against the following offenders regarding motor traffic within the County:— H. M. Mankelcw was fined £2 for using an unregistered vehicle. Mayrell Blomfield was fined 10s with 10s costs for failing to produce a driver’s license. J. H. Eveleigh for operating a motor vehicle without having a Heavy Traffic License was fined £1 with 12s costs. L. A. Kay was fined £2 with costs 12s for operating an unregistered motor vehicle. G. C. Palmer was fined £1 with costs 12s for operating an unregistered motor vehicle. The same defendant was fined 10s for operating a motor vehicle without being the holder of a driver’s license. For not having drivers’ licenses, the following were fined 10s and costs: Mrs J. C. Petersen, G. W. Parker, Arthur H. Murphy, C. McMonagle, Edward Levien and Gordon James. K. T. McKenzie was convicted and fined £1 with costs 12s for operating a motor cycle without a driver’s license. F. B. Hansen, for operating a motor cycle without the necessary license, was fined 10s with costs 12s. Frank Cook, traffic inspector appointed bv the Transport Department, proceeded against Herbert Williams for exceeding the road classification. The ease was dismissed under Section 92. Martin Joseph Hilder, on the same charge, was similarly dealt with. Dorothy Webster, for failing to nroduce a driver’s license, was fined 10s. A similar penalty for a like breach was inflicted upon Arthur Horton, who was also ordered to pay costs (10s). CIVIL CASES. Ernest A. Sklenars v. A. J. Keighley and Co. Claim £2B 19s 6d. The plaintiff stated that he was a motor mechanic employed by the above firm at their Otorohanga garage (the old factcry of the N.Z. Co-op. Dairy Association, which they had purchased). This was a complicated case where partnership was alleged. The plaintiff was non-suited.
