CRICKET ON SUNDAY ?
A POSSIBILITY FORESEEN. The possibility of Sunday cricket on reserves was mentioned at the meeting of the Te Awamutu Domain Board on Monday evening. Mr W. J. North inquired if some provision was to be made at Albert for cricket during the coming summer. The chairman (Mr G. Spinley) said the cricketers had deserted Albert Park for cricket during the coming summer. Mr North said he was not surprised at that, for the ground was far too rough for cricket. Some matches had been played at the Tokanui Hospital, and quite a lot of games were played on Sundays at the racecourse. Mr Spinley: Yes, and I suppose they will want to play on Albert Park on Sundays when the pitch is in decent order. I have been told that they offered to contribute on a basis of one shilling per player per game. That would give us some revenue with which to provide decent pitches at Albert Park.
