WOMEN’S DIVISION
PUKEATUA BRANCH. On Tuesday afternoon the monthly meeting of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union, was held in the social room of the local hall. Mrs Fletcher, president, occupied the chair. Mrs Crook expressed the pleasure all felt at seeing Mrs Fletcher back and able to take up her work amongst them again. In returning thanks, Mrs Fletcher also thanked all who had so loyally carried on the work during her indisposition. She also complimented the ladies who had so successfully carried out the various duties in connection with the birthday party. Members .accorded Mrs Anderson a very hearty vote of thanks for making the very beautiful bouquet presented to Mrs Ryburn at the birthday party. It was resolved to send a letter to Mrs J. Bethune wishing her a speedy recovery from her illness. During the afternoon the Waitemata housekeeping scheme was favourably considered. An interesting paper on diet and its relation to health was read by the president, and an animated discussion ensued. The roll call for the afternoon, “Extracts from Tennyson,” made a varied and pleasing Interlude. Mesdames Perrott and Patterson tied for first place in a word jumble competition, the former winning the draw. The prize for plain scones went to Mrs H. Heddon. Mrs Fletcher won the prize made by Mrs Grierson for the wandering shilling competition. The social programme was arranged by Mesdames Graff, Grierson and Ferguson, and the very enjoyable afternoon tea was provided by Mesdames Soloman, McKee and Crook.
