BETTER NEWS

MR G. DALTON'S IMPROVED HEALTH. For several months now Mr George Dalton, jun., a former pupil of the Te Awamutu District High School and one of this year’s elected Rhodes Scholars, has been lying in Christchurch Hospital suffering from the effects of an attack of what is called infantile paralysis. Latest information shows that he is how showing slight but definite signs of improvement, and there is reason for hope that he will ultimately be restored to health again. Chatting last week with his brother, Mr “Jack" Dalton, who made the trip south to see him, the sufferer was bright and cheerful, and said that though practically helpless he could feel muscular movement in the affected leg, and believed that the continued treatment he was receiving in hospital was doing him good. George sent remembrances to his many friends and well-wishers here, and hoped his improvement would continue. We gather that the English authorities conducting Rhodes Scholarship affairs have agreed to a postponement for a year to enable the nominee from here to recover his health before entering Oxford University to pursue his studies.
