WEDNESDAY HOLIDAY

ADVICE TO EMPLOYERS. At a meeting of the Advisory Board of the New Zealand Employers’ Federation at Wellington on Wednesday it was decided to recommend to employers that wherever possibly and practicable to observe Wednesday as a holiday on full pay. It was decided also to point out that if for any particular reason an employer was unable to accede to the above recommendation there would be no obligation on employers to pay extra wages. Under such circumstances the day was to be treated as an ordinary working day. The Wellington Manufacturers’ Association is leaving to individual members the question of whether or not they will close their premises on Coronation Day.

OBSERVANCE LOCALLY. The Te Awamutu Retailers’ Holiday Committee has decided to observe next Wednesday as a full holiday, and customers throughout the town and countryside are asked to note this fact.
