DRAMA CLUB
WELL ATTENDED OPENING OF SEASON. The attendance at the Te Awamutu Drama Club’s first reading of the present season, at the Parish Hail last evening, must have been encouraging to the executive and a happy augury for a highly successful 1937 seasen. It was a record in point of numbers, and all present seemed to thoroughly enjoy the fare provided. The reading was St. John Ervine’s “Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary,” and the characters were as under:—Mrs Considine. Miss Tippler; her niece Sheila. Miss V. Holt; her son Geoflery, Mr V. A. de Coek; her brother-in-law, Sir Henry Considine (formerly Governor of Andibar), Mr Erie Bent; her husband Rev. Canon P. Considine, Vicar of Hinton St. Henry. Mr F. W. Bevin; Mrs James Westlake, Mrs C. S. Wood; her manager Mr Hobbs, Mr YV. Foggin; Mr Beeby, Mr C. S. Wood; Jenny (a maid). Miss G. Ryburn; and Miss Mimms. Miss O. Lloyd. Those familiar with the book enjoyed the reading to the utmost, for ' the characters were all well chosen, and as the reading proceeded a very keen interest was maintained. The club is to be congratulated 'upon the high standard attained.
