TWENTY-FIVE YEARS AGO
AS REPORTED IN THE WAIPA POST on 23rd APRIL, 1912. Mrs Valder, of Hamilton, and Miss Clarke, teacher at Te Kawa School, were injured on the south road yesterlay due to the capsize of a trap in which they were driving. The road is reported to be in a very dangerous state, and there will be more accidents if the holes are not filled. The payment at the Te Awamutu creamery for March supplies totals £725 8s 3d. Pirongia Tennis Club held a successful concert last Friday. A farce, “ Lodgers and Dodgers,” was staged by Mrs R. Aubin and M. Key, and Messrs W. and B. Godfrey, Chappell, and Geo. Finn. Otorohanga Chamber of Commerce is petitioning for the inclusion of Otorohanga as a stopping place for Main trunk express trains. Cheques for a total of £442 6s lOd were paid for March deliveries to the Kihikihi creamery. The School Committee elections at Te Awamutu resulted in the appointment ol Rev. F. W. Clarke, Rev. W. Woollass, Dr A. Henderson, and Messrs W. N. O. von Stunner, W. F. Y. Stewart, A. S. Wallace, and Geo. Spinley. The school building could not accommodate the attendance, and many had to listen-in from -the opened windows. Mr H. Y. Collins resigned from the Committee and the chairmanship.
