A POWER BOARD’S FUTURE
CAMBRIDGE FEARS EXTINCTION At the monthly meeting of Cambridge Electric Power Board on Wednesday evening the chairman (Mr M. Wells) said he was of the opinion that the Board’s committee should keep a close watch on legislation affecting electrical matters. It should be fully alive in the interests of the consumers, especially in view of talk of the amalgamation of the power boards. Mr F. Lye said a Parliamentary committee was set up to draft a Bill dealing with the proposed amalgamation of boards, and that committee would, of course, hear evidence. The chairman said they had to face the possibility of being linked with Waitomo and Te Awamutu. Mr J. W. Garland: I don’t think that would be in the interests of our consumers. Mr Lye: I think ample opportunity will bei provided for boards to state their views and objections on the matter. It was decided that the secretary and the engineer prepare an analysis of charges of the Waitomo, Te Awamutu, and Cambridge Boards for comparative purposes.
