COROHATIOK DELEGATION

NEW ZEALAND PARLIAMENTARY PARTY. MR W. J. BROADFOOT CHOSEN. General satisfaction will be expressed throughout the electorate, and indeed further afield, at the announcement that Mr W. J. Broadfoot, M.P. for Waitomo since 1928, has been chosen as a member of the New Zealand Parliamentary delegation to attend the Coronation of King Edward VIII. in May next year. New Zealand’s representation will consist of Hon. J. A. Hanan, deputy Speaker of the Legislative Council, Mr W. J. Broadfoot, Junior Whip for the Opposition in the House of Representatives, and two members of the Government Party. Messrs F. W. Schramm (Auckland East), and E. J. Howard (Christchurch South). Mr Schramm is chairman of Parliament’s delegation to the Petitions Committee, and Mr Howard is chairman of Committees. Of the four delegates chosen, all but Mr Howard are members of the legal profession. The party will represent New Zealand on the Empire Parliamentary Association’s delegation to the Coronation, and will be supplementary to the New Zealand Government representativs, who are expected to be the Hon. M. J. Savage, Prime Minister, and one other Minister, probably the Hon. H. T. Armstrong. They will leave New Zealand about the end of March, and should be back in New Zealand again early in August.
