PIRONGIA NEWS
— WOMEN’S INSTITUTE. (Own Correspondent.) A special gathering of members of the Pirongia Women's Institute was held in the Library on Tuesday afternoon to bid farewell to a very popular member, Miss Freda Kitchener. During the afternoon the president, Mrs Lorimer, in wishing the guest the liest oi luck in her new sphere of duties, presented the guest with a handsome pair of book ends. Miss Allen supplemented Mrs Lorimer’s remarks, and presented . Miss Kitchener with a beautiful posy. Miss Kitchener suitably replied, and expressed regret at leaving Pirongia, where she had made so many friends. Delightful concert items were contributed as follows: Trio, Mesdames J. Livingstone, H. Hall and G. Barry; vocal solo, Mrs G. Bainbridge; vocal duet, Misses R. and G. Bell. A tasty afternoon tea was served.
