ARMS LIMITATION
CANNOT BE LONG DELAYED. “A move for the limitation of armaments mlay come sooner than « most people think, owing to the economic pressure of the course that is being followed in Europe. We live in a Europe suffering from an almost total eclipse of liberal opinion—liberal with a small ‘l’—a Europe where there is a tendency for extremes to rule with which no section of opinion in this House can feel sympathy. We in this country have a free Press and free opinion. These are. liberties which we mean to maintain, but Jliey carry with them responsibilities of justice, of judgment and of restraint. In a world where both those liberties and those responsibilities are rare democracies must find their unity, if they are to survive, and hand on to other generations the liberties of which they feel proud.”- Mr Anthony Eden.
