RAILWAY FATALITY

SHUNTER CUT TO PIECES ACCIDENT AT MORRINSVILLE A fatality occurred at Morrinsville railway station at about 3 p.m. on Tuesday, when a porter, named Jack G. Rountree, who was engaged as a shunter, fell beneath an engine and was literally cut to pieces. The deceased was coupling the engine to some trucks while they were moving. His foot got caught in the points, and he fell beneath the tender which went over him, severing both legs and mutilating the body.

Deceased was a married man of about 30 years of age, and leaves a wife and three children. Prior to coming to Morrinsville a little over a month ago he was stationed at Hihitahi, near Marton.—Morrinsvile Star.
