METHODIST CHURCH

THE QUARTERLY MEETING GOOD PROGRESS MADE The Quarterly Meeting of the Te Aroha Methodist Circuit officials was held at Eastport Road church on Wednesday. The Rev. S. Henderson presided over a fair attendance representing the various parts of the circuit. 'l’he chairman reported that a special service had been conducted during the quarter to receive 67 junior members, who had signed decision cards. It was a most impressive service, the Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper being administered at its close. It was decided to accept the offer of a student’s assistance during the May vacation. ! PROHIBITION RALLY Wednesday, April 23rd, was chosen for a rally of all workers interested in the forthcoming Prohibition Campaign, to meet Mr Waterhouse, the district organiser. HEALTHY FINANCES The balance sheet, which was presented by Mr J. A. Clothier, disclosed a very healthy state of finance, there being a credit of £6B after meeting a small debit from last quarter. This splendid credit is due partly to an increased liberality on the part of the members through the ordinary channels, but chiefly to the fine response of the various Harvest Festivals held throughout the circuit. It was resolved to again assist the Hauraki Plains Home Mission to the extent of £5 next quarter A committee was set up consisting of Messrs Wagstaff, Walters, Clothier, Rayner and G. W. Horn to go into the matter of car renovation, with power to act. MISSIONARY VISIT The chairman announced that the Rev. J. Gouldie, chairman of the Soloman Islands Mission, would be in Te Aroha on Tuesday next with two natives of the group, when a monster Foreign Mission meeting would be held in the evening. The ladies’ missionary auxilliary will probably arrange a meeting also in the afternoon. It was decided to hold Foreign Mission meetings as far as possible throughout the circuit. MEMORIAL TABLET The matter of a memorial tablet to the late Mrs Blencowe was entrusted to a committee consisting of the chairman, Mrs Eastwood, Senr., and Messrs J. A. Clothier and C. Rayner.

It was stated that the Te Aroha West Sunday School Anniversary services would be held on May 18th, when both morning and evening services would be held. The Te Aroha West Church Anniversary will be held on June 3rd. The Eastport ladies of the congregation provided both dinner and afternoon tea in the vestry, which was much appreciated by the members, and for which the ladies were heartily thanked. The next Quarterly Meeting will be held in Te Aroha in July.
