THE GOLDFIELDS’ GOLD STARS MATCH AT TE AROHA A bowling' match was played at Te Aroha on Saturday for the coveted Goldfields’ Gold Stars between Matamata, the challengers, and Te Aroha, the holders. A most enjoyable time was experienced by losers and winners alike in the contest for the above match. Great interest was taken in Matamata’s challenge for the Stars'. The team comprised two of the previous players for the coveted honors and two new players in Mr Halligan and Mr Egan. The game was very-even until the 16th head, being all square (13 all), after which the Matamata team did not score for 7 heads. The Te Aroha team eventually winding up winners by 26 to 19. In the inter-club matches Te Aroha won all games, the total scores being Te Aroha 114, Matamata 85. The teams playing in the Star challenge match were as follows: — Matamata —Halligan (1), Egan (2), Stewart (3), Flett (skip). Te Aroha—Hesketh (1), Hankins (2), Ngakura (3), Peterson (skip). INTER-CLUB MATCHES The following are the results of the inter-club matches, Te Aroha being mentioned first in each instance: — J. A. Clothier 18 v. Bolt 16. D. McL. Wallace 21 v. N. Wallace 16. J. Heathcote 25 v. Buchanan 11. P. Bygrave 30 v. Sloane 13. I. S. Wyllie 19 v. Coote 17. P. Heathcote 25 v. Yardley 9. The usual speeches on conclusion of play by the Te Aroha president, Mr Kenrick, and Mr Flett, Matamata, concluded a very enjoyable day’s sport.
