RESERVIST CHANGES HIS ADDRESS
FINED FOR NON-NOTIFICATION At the local S.M. Court yesterday, before Mr E Page, a young man named William Williams was charged under the War Regulations’ Act that being a reservist ho changed his place of a' ode from Morrinsville to Manawaru without notifying in proper form the Government Statistician. Williams pleaded not guilty, maintaining that his permanent address was Hungahunga, and he notified the Statistician accordingly. He handed in a statement by the postmistress at Hnngahunga in support. He also stated he had offered for active service, but had not been accepted. After leaving Morrinsville he was in several places for a week or two each before definitely settling at HungahuDga. Until then his permanent address was Morrinsville, and he kept in touch with that place up till notifying the Statisticianjabout six weeeks ago. His Worship said that the notification had not been registered through the post office, and apparently the Statistician had not received it. De fendant would be convicted, but no fine would be imposed above the 7/costs. The Regulations would have to be observed.
