ANZAC OBSERVANCE

(To the Editor) Sir, —There appears to be a conspiracy abroad to alter the Anniversary of Anzac Day from the 25th to the 23rd of April. I would like—through the medium of your valuable space—to protest against any alteration of the date of that memorable day when so many of our brave boys paid the supreme sacrifice, an.l maintain that this day should be kept sacred and inviolate from the juggling which so often characterises the observance of some of our holidays. It seems to me that Municipal Elections are a flimsy pretext upon which to alter Anzac Day and if the Election must be hold on the 25th April I can see no reason why they would interfere with church services, addresses, or the proper and fitting observance of Anzac Day. Sentiment enters largely into this question, and I think the feelings of hundreds of people in our midst should be considered.—l am, eto., Anti-swap.
