CORRESPONDENCE LABOUR FOR HARVEST A letter was received from the Department of Labour asking how many extra men would be required in the district for the harvest. The expression of most of the farmers was that each should help one another as it would be difficult to arrange for extra men who were unknown. " children’s drill A letter was received from the Secretary of the School Committee with respect to the alleged discourtesy shown to the children and the teachers in connection with the children’s drill display. Mr Clothier suggested that the Secretary write to the School Committee to explain that the rain and the delay in the jumping events, were partly responsible, and that no discourtesy was intended. It was also decided to pay the prize money to the girls and that the entrance money of the boys be returned.

JUDGING It was resolved that all stallions should be judged on the second day. . THE PARADEMr Craig said that the Parade was a disgrace as it was badly organised, the classes being mixed up. Mr Burke said it would need a steward to every animal to carry it ■' out successfully. * ARRANGEMENT OF CATALOGUE Mr F. M. Strange said the judging of the fruit, produce, etc., should be done on the first day, and that the day of judging should be definitely stated over every section in the catalogue. SPECIAL CLASSES Mr Craig asked that the special classes be more clearly defined. GUESSING COMPETITION It was asked why the competition had not taken p’a;e, and the President explained that owing to the prospect of rain, Mr Hedge had not sent the fat bullock and sheep and only the pig was present. TIME OF JUDGING Mr W. Montgomerie said that the clause allowing cattle to come along at 2 p.m. should be deleted as it kept judges waiting.

Mr Craig said that in one case a man had ordered a truck but the Railway Department rang him up and told him that they could not lift it by the train and therefore he _ had to proceed by road. THE CATERING Mr H. O. Cooper said that workers on the grounds should be provided with tickets for luncheon. He explained that owing to the rain he had cancelled some of the provisions and afterwards found he was short. Although he was unable to show a profit the catering had just about paid. Mr Clothier said the Association was deeply indebted to Mr Cooper who had given all his time gratis,..and he did pqt thipk it cqulfi be done better by anyqne. Mr Clothier thanked all those who had worked in connection with the Show. Mr G. Goodfellow said the president was mainly responsible for the successful show, and proposed a vote of thanks to him which was seconded by Mr T. Stanley and carried by acclamation Mr Clothier responded saying that he had only . done his best to make the Show a success. Members also praised the Secretary (Mr W A Clark) for the able way in which he had carried out his duties. Mr Clark said be had made a fevjr mistakes, but had dope Swhat' fie> could to carry the Show on successfully.
